I have a jd314 and can't decide where or how to mount my 3" led driving lights. Any one have any suggestions? I need them high enough to clear snow blade when in up position.

The higher the better in my opinion. If you are handy then build a frame like a ROPS and mount them on the horizontal. Don't know your rig so can't help with specifics... yet!

I had a 318 and I drilled to small holes in the front support that the grille locks into and mount some truck fog lights to the side of it. The wires ran right in between that support, the sid panels and the hood it was just big enou hours for the 2 wires and I just had to watch when I closed the hood so they wouldn't get pinched.

yellowfever440, weren't your side covers open the front? Mine open at the bottom. but that was a good idea. I am considering mounting mine on the side of the hood where the seam is for the headlight housing . But that is a maybe. I also thought about on top side of side covers but I would have to unhook wires every time I removed covers.

I don't have the 318 any more. They slide under the front supports in the front then they had a bolt it the back to hold the side panels on. They were solid panels.

I mounted mine to that support so i wouldn't have to worry about the lights moving and the wires getting stretched or anything like that. And they didn't vibrate either. Mounting to the hood or side panels may let them vibrate. I used a single stage snowblower on the 318 for a year or 2 and they were perfect height and just far enough a part the chute didn't block them at all.

My experience with LED's is that they are a little too 'directional'. Halogen floods would probably provide wider coverage for snow removal.
