LED light bars for lighting ice rink....your thoughts?

So I checked the VOLTAGE DROP. A 50" bar is about 300 watts or 25 amps, and is rated for 10 to 30 volts (this is just the first one I clicked on) if you can get a solid 12v from your source/battery than a 19' run of #12 awg will give you a 1.9 volt drop putting you at 10 volts at the light. If you use #10 awg then you can bump it up to 30'. So when you compare prices don't forget that the 120v lights will only require #14 awg or an extension cord that may already be in your garage. Also compare lumens of the fixtures because the wattage can be misleading. Sorry if this is way more information than you wanted...

120v LED floods will be the way to go. At that height, you're not going to light your rink as evenly as you would want to.

I would do 4 strings of string lights. Really adds to the ambiance and looks cool. You'll be in the same wattage or higher than you have now though. What's a buck a night for all that fun?

$35 each will get you a 150W HPS replacement 120v LED fixture on Amazon that will put out LOTS of light.
6 of those (2 at each end and 2 in the middle) would probably throw enough light to see well.

I've bought a couple of the Snap-On LED work lights at Costco. They're rated at 2,000 lumens and consume 25W. Cost was about $30 each but they might have been on sale at the time.

One light I leave sitting on my blasting cabinet, the other I hang inside the truck hood or tractor roll bar for working outside at night. I'd think with 6-8 of them you could light up your ice rink at night and cost you maybe $1 per week to run.
