Left my inch lb torque wrench on setting for two months. Is it ruined now?

I'm the go to guy around here for ring and pinion set up. I have wanted an inch pound wrench. Most times I don't use a torque wrench on the pinion nut. But still, I'd like to get right.

My BIL was like that and was a high end mechanic for decades. When I was a kid I was shocked to see him put in spark plugs with his small impact air gun. He told me he did it every day and not to worry.

I couldn't let it go so made a small wager. He installed and checked the torque on plugs as I watched. All were spot on and after that I think I learned when to mind my P's and Q's. The guy was a genius at anything automotive and had the diagnostic patience of a saint.

Here's an update. I did an unscientific test against a ft lb torque wrench and figure it was maybe 10% out of whack. Now what?

I unscrewed it back to zero in lbs and forgot about it till last night and now firgue it's maybe 5% off. So just by sitting, it seems to be improving. I'll test it again when I find a better way to do it but I now think it's close enough for what I do with it. If the torque changes, I'll post it.

Ok, NOW you are overthinking this.... It's plenty close enough for use. Go forth and torque precisely and fear not!
