 Wondering if you have this model in the States and if so can give me your opinion. Here's the link to the Australian supplier with picks and spec.
Lenar ES45 - National Machinery Traders
Ive been after a tractor with FEL and checked out most of the options but I did steer away from Chinese made due to the horror stories I'd heard but my budget is only so many $ which in the brand names will only get me a 30 / 33 hp tractor with a rather limited lift capacity and only a 54' bucket, plus the small wheels, lower weight, limited rear lift capacity that all come with a smaller hp tractor so not expecting too much I went to check out the Lenar ES45 which is about the same price here as the Kioti 30hp KL30, and the Yanmar 33hp FE352. I was surprised by the finish quality, not as good as the Yanmar or Kioti sure but better than the other Chinese brand tractors I have looked at, it's 66' bucket which is a real plus over 54' and the dealer had no hesitation letting me test the lifting capacity which was impressive, heaped bucket of absolutely sodden clay soil lifted to full height at low rev's as if the bucket was empty, to show off the loader lift capacity the dealer lowered the bucket to lift the front wheels of the tractor about 17' off the ground while the tractor was only idleing, I was impressed. The dealer really seemed to have complete confidence in the tractor and let me push it into piles of sodden earth [we had days and days of rain, I really mean sodden like I was in pools of laying water as the soil could adsorb no more] it bulldozed the pile no worries and only spun the wheels when I tilted the bucket too much and started digging.
For the same $ neither of the lower hp brand name tractors come close for power, performance, capacity and ease of use, due to the ES45 being spacious and the Yanmar and Kioti being rather cramped for my 6"2' some of the levers got awkward on the brand name tractors. Now I'm not completely brain dead and realise comparing 30hp/ 33hp against 45hp isn't a fair test and I'm sure their 45 hp models of the brand name tractors would probably make the ES45 look like the poor relation but as I said my budget won't stretch to [and isn't ever likely to short of some rich relative that I don't know about,"buying the farm" I think the saying is] a 45hp brand name so its the 30/33hp with limited capacities, bucket size and power but a trusted name for quality and reliability or take the gamble that the ES45 is as good as it looks and feels and get the exact size and power I really was hopping for in the first place for the price of the smaller brand name tractors. Tough choice, the extra power and performance means squat if the thing isn't reliable, I get 1 shot at buying a tractor, if its a lemon I'm screwed, no way could I unload it onto some other poor soul knowing its a heap, I couldn't live with myself so if I buy a lemon I'll be stuck with it or have to near give it away to someone who is willing to buy it even after I've told the any problems :( .
So if anyone has any knowledge or suggestions they would like to share I would greatly appreciate hearing from them.

Looking at the pictures, I'm thinking the ES25 is made by Mahindra China. The ES45 appears to be a Foton/Lovol or one of the copies made in China. Lenar was a brand name of a USA importer applied to tractors made by the Jaingling tractor factory until it was acquired by Mahindra. Mahindra cut off USA sales of the Jaingling tractor to Lenar and Lenar sourced its tractors from Dong Feng after that. Its interesting that Mahindra is still offering that tractor private labled in the Austrailian market. Does Mahindra have a presence there in their own right?

Your correct bluechip, the ES25 is the Chinese made Mahindra sold as a Lenar here in Australia [ are we confused yet:confused: ] and yes Mahindra is here in Australia, they had their big launch in 2005 so fairly new to us over here. The dealer didn't have a ES25 to look at at the time as he had just sold it 2 days earlier but has more on the way, his opinion is "bang for buck" the ES45 is the way to go, the good news is he has been in business for 5 years, seems to really know the tractors [which is good since he is also the one who fixes any warranty claims] and seems really honest, he told me about how these tractors used to have crummy Chinese starters, and how they now have hytachi starters, warned me how several hydraulic pumps failures had needed to be replaced due to swarf being left in the system, these were replaced under warranty. He has no problem giving me a long list of people he has sold to to get there opinion of the tractor and the service they receive [ although they are all ES25 as the ES45 has only just arrived in Australia and he only just sold his 1st one 3 weeks ago ] which I'm yet to follow up so it all sounds good, of course if he were a scam artist selling dodgy tractors I'm sure his story would also sound all very good but I really don't think this is the case.

Just printed out the spec. sheet and noticed a emblem at the top with Chang Fa which I assume is the company that makes them, any ideas

Just checked out the CHANGFA web sight and the Lenar ES45 spec are word for word same as the CHANGFA CF454 spec with just 1 difference engine model is listed as 495BT on the Lenar ES45 and CF4T-45 on the CHANGFA CF454 but otherwise word for word so now I know who makes them but I know only what the CHANGFA and Lenar web site tells me about them and for some reason I feel they may be bias's, just cant see them saying

"We make poor quality products that are guaranteed to let you down and backed by non existent parts service, so buy with confidence, we guarantee to to leave you screwed"

Or am I just to cynical, really would appreciate input from anyone that knows about these CHANGFA tractors

OH Changfa! I have been to thier factory in China, very new and world class (as is Foton/Lovol). They started out building a "clone" of the foton models, but I understand they have some new designs of their own now. They have been working on thier approach to the USA market and I expect we will see them soon here.

Chip,
I think I saw one of those Chinese Mahindras at the Ag Fair in Tulare earlier this year. Dave had them in his booth. They were right next to your booth when I tried to visit you but missed you every time.

Yes, I saw it there, and in tulsa before that. It seems I spent hours at the Dong Feng and KAMA booths, and some time at Foton too, but I also spent some time walking around. It was a pretty big show!
