Jack, I'm JD Green with envy. I got the mid-PTO on my 790 in hopes of a future front mounted blower. Fortunately, I won't need it for a couple of years 'cause this board is making me rethink everything. Front blower? Rear blower? Rear blade? FEL (already have)? Blade on my truck? Etc.

Do you have a FEL for your machine? If so, do you miss it when you have the blower on? How big a deal to remove?

Sure are great pics!

Rob, Thanks for the nice comments. I do have a loader, but I don't miss it when using the snowblower. The loader attaches and detaches in a couple of minutes each. The snow blower also mounts fast once the bracket and mid-PTO shaft are installed. You don't have to remove them to remount the loader, so if I need to use the loader the change is quick. I will remove the snowblower bracket and mid-PTO shaft (5- minute job) once spring arrives (I presume it will again this year.) This is the first season I have had the snowblower having just purchased it "used" in November. I have always wanted a snowblower, but didn't want to spend the $ for a new one. This one was in great shape and the price was right for me. I feel fortunate to have found it before our record-breaking snow season hit.

Wow, that looks like fun /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif! So far we've gotten fairly small amounts of snow. Buffalo to the west and Syracuse to the east have gotten over 100", but Rochester's gotten something like a measly 60" /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif... how am I supposed to play with no snow /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif???

rubber tire traction aids are great.
What are they, "chains" made out of rubber? I really like that idea /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. A touch more traction on the blacktop when using the snowblower might be nice. Where'd you get them?

Thanks for the reply. What a lucky find for you. Maybe I'll scour the dealers in the spring for a used one, though after this winter I doubt many people will be parting with snow removal equipment.

I'll add a mark in the plus column for a front mounted blower, thanks again.

Jack, that is a snow moving rig for sure. For those of us down south, it kind of looks like fun. I'll bet it was fun the first few times./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Looks like your timing was right on when you found that blower.

The traction aids are made by Hemler Manufacturing of Lancaster, PA. I ordered mine through Dave Anderson at Deer Creek Equipment, Oxford, PA. (1-800-255-6567). The cross-straps are made from heavy rubber belting. The sides are normal chains. They do not scar asphalt driveways, but do significantly increase traction with turf tires. To mount them, you jack up the wheel, deflate the tire to about 6-8 psi, install the "chains" and reinflate the tire to provide a snug fit.

Yes, I agree. Most of California does not have real seasons like the area's up north. I do like the idea of seperate seasons.

Of course, we are only a less than a hour drive from feets and feets of snow...

I lived in a copper mining town in the Cascade Mountains when I was about 10. One year we had 625 inches of snow fall, we made the front cover of Life Magazine. My stepdad plowed the roads with a D8 cat and a lookout who watched for snow slides. He was one jumpy fellow.
