If anyone is thinking about buying a New Holland product be advised that unless someone has information that I don't have there is no number at NH headquarters that can give you technical assistance even though they have a tech assist. line. If you seek assistance that is not available at the dealer you will be told that all questions or problems HAVE to go thru the dealer. They will ask you if you have checked with the dealer and the only thing will do is refer you back to the dealer so if your local dealer cannot help or fix your problem you are on your own. I have been told by a retired JD dealer mechanic that Deere has a very good technical support department and a fantastic customer / factory relationship but you are on your own with NH. I have called the company 3 times and spoken to different people each time and have been told the same thing every time. My dealer will not even let me talk to the owner of the dealership. I have made several attempts to call and have even gone to the dealer and asked to speak to the owner and have been turned away each time. I just spent 55K cash at this dealer and the first problem that has arisen they won't address. I just had to blow off some steam and try to give others contemplating a purchase with NH a heads up as to what they might run into if they have an after purchase problem. One friend has suggested that if I had financed this rig things might be different.

Could you possibly check with a different New Holland dealer?

Would you expect tech support from an automaker? As a consumer, the best that you end up with is some form of a customer assistance center. Many companies don't offer any form of technical help at all for the consumer. The ones that do, are likely to be very limited. Will they get you further up the food chain so that a dealer rep can at least check in with the dealer?

Good point TP.. but I do have to agree w the orig. poster.. NH service is bad in my area too..
He did brush a wide stroke when he putting it that all NH service is bad & not buy their product but, its a recurring theme.. throughout.
Everyone that ends up at my shop door has the same opinion or problems w/ the service..
& u wanna talk about WRONG diagnosis from the service dept.?!!! THATS IF they can get in..

Good luck getting OEM support from any manufacturer. Email is the equivalent to the cross walk button, it never gets checked and it is there simply to make you feel better while waiting for the light to change. Modern big business phone support is "talk to the computer", then if you are lucky "talk to the anonymous support person with a fake first name and Bangladesh accent". Then it's deny, deny, deny. Give me your email address and phone number so we can sell your information to the spammer call centres and robo-callers. Your personal information is our new product line. Welcome to the future.

Dave, you've only had the tractor for 2 weeks right? What problems are you having and what tech support are you looking for? Seems like the dealer (or any NH dealer) would be the first stop for warranty issues.

I could tell you the same about the dealers with the green and red paint in my area. Everyone has a gripe on their service. But the post was directed at the manufacturer not providing technical support to the end user. Few hardgood manufacturers do well with this. The comment on Deere CAC I can't say from any experience I've had as being legit. You contact Deere and Co., my guess is that they rub your belly but also don't provide any real amount of tech support to the end user. Even online, much of the owner manuals and little tech snippets like, how does this belt route - are either gone or so far up the cavity that it ain't pretty extracting the information. Fortunately my Deere dealer will reach out with a print out from a tech manual should I need it. Will they for the average Joe? Dunno.

Mostly the roll of a CAC is to put the end user in contact with someone who can help, maybe answer some commonalities -hopefully get them to someone who can get the user and dealer together on addressing an issue. That is the best you can hope for with something mechanical. Help from software and electronics one may fair better depending on the company. After all, most of their business is done in the virtual world and not a dealership.

Maybe keep track of your issues, complaints and concerns so you can put them in the NH customer survey that you get after purchase.

Oh wait, they don't send one out.

Granted, my tractor is much older (2003), but I had an issue with it shortly after it was out of warranty that I deemed a safety issue. I emailed NH. They called me within a day or so, spoke to me about the issue, and agreed it was in fact a safety issue. They called the dealership, arranged for pick-up and paid for the dealership to do the repairs - all after my warranty was up. I can't complain about service/support from corporate.
