There is a crossbow store/shop in Sardis , Ohio owned and run by a guy named Dan Miller. The name of the shop is Horizontal Archery. Danny has got to be one of the leading authorities on crossbows in the world. Their prices are very competative and they will send you your crossbow already sighted in for those that have troubles doing it. At one time and its possible that they still don't even have a website. Just old school honest to goodness people to deal with. I'am in no way related to them and crossbow websites are just filled with positive experiences dealing with Danny.

I have an older TenPoint Stealth X-2. Sent it back to TenPoint two years ago for a string/cable change and a trigger upgrade. It's deadly accurate. I have a rope cocker (not built in). My first scope was an illuminated red dot scope. Sometimes the battery would die on the red dot scope without warning. The scope without the red dot isn't of much use so I went to a cross hair scope. These are good targets. They will take lot of shots from broad heads and hold up well. Not easy to pull bolts out of though:

While I don't have a crossbow or hunt with a bow (can't get good consitant hits). I have learned that square bales will stop the arrows every time if you turn them to where an end is facing you. And make it shoot through the leafs not between them. Takes more bales just make sure you keep them tight. If doing a lot of shooting put some stakes on each side.

I have a friend that purchased a cross bow last fall;he started shooting it indoors last winter.What we found out that the strings are only good for about 150 shots.This is a quality and expensive x bow.String change-out/labor is $90.00.Pretty expensive shooting.

If you rube them with wax they last better. Also, you can rest ring with a special wire stringer, costs like $9

Pics of my Excalibur Exocet 175 (stock sights) . Excal recommends when not going to use crossbow for a while to de-string, and take off dissipator bars and pads.

They have also come out with a S5string suppressor system which people claim redoices noice levels even more. Don't have those on any of my crossbows (yet).
