One way to "fix" them is look at the work of george nakashima go to his furniture section and you will see various ways to make legs, or to join split wood. He is one of my favorite artists. George Nakashima Woodworker, S.A.
The cookies that you have I fear might be a bit prone to splitting. It will be especially true if you do not dry it and then put in a tenon leg. The wood will continue splitting and crack around each leg. you may want to do legs like this and then dowel/peg it to top Furniture
