I have just purchased a 3 pt backhoe from Liberty Implements. They assure me that all I need to do is hook it up and start digging. From what I have read on here maybe I will need a sub frame on the tractor. Liberty tells me no. Any advice?

Welcome to TBN.
What model 3PH hoe?
If it's 3PH model then it attaches to 3PH with no subframe. If it's a subframe mount then that's how it mounts.
They are two different 'animals'.

Here is just one comparison of the differences/similarities between the two types: Subframe vs. 3-Pt. Hitch | Tractor Backhoe Reviewer

It is a 3 pt 6 ft. backhoe. It has not arrived yet but reading some of these posts make me wonder if this will work. The man from Liberty assures me my T C 30 will easily handle the 6 ft. backhoe. Oh--Thank You fro the welcome!!

Most CUT's require a sub frame for a BH. It puts the stress on the sub frame, not the tractor. If none are available from Liberty you should make a sub frame to mount the BH onto. Of course the guy from Liberty will tell you you don't need a sub frame so he can make the sale. Usually larger tractors do not need a sub frame, only smaller CUT's and SCUT's.

On the other hand, I do know other CUT owners that have used a 3 pt BH without a sub frame for many years without any problems. I guess it depends on how you use it. I don't have a BH for my tractor but if I did buy one I would either buy or build a sub frame.

I did look at Liberty BH's and at one point considered buying one. They looked like pretty sturdy units. Also looked at Taylor Way model 766 BH's. Had I bought either I'd have built a sub frame. Just couldn't justify buying as I didn't have enough jobs to use it on. For the few jobs I do I can usually borrow a BH from a friend.

Don't worry about it. You've bought a good quality machine and it comes with a 3 year warranty. If you will be the sole user you can eliminate the concerns about subframe vs. 3PH by using it cautiously and not horsing it around. I take it yours will come with a PTO pump that you will attach to your PTO and that will supply fluid for the hydraulic action of your hoe?
Try not to agonize over your decision; I read through the Liberty Corp. entire web site, and from what I can discern you should be good to go! Post pics of it all hooked up.

Thank you for the reply, I did read a post on here where a guy bought the 6 ft. backhoe from Liberty and installed it and everything was fine. It should be here on May 12th. When I get it hooked up I'll let you know.
