Hi everyone!

I am 50 something and on the tail end of my career with the Fire Dept. I presently live in S. Fl and want to prepare for retirement in Tn. I have 5 more years to go then I am moving back to America (Tn). Have had enough of the hustle and bussel of the city life. Just trying to educate my self with the tractor industry and have a friend that wants me to buy his tractor that he dosent use. My wife and I plan to move to the middle of know where in middle Tn. and not tell our 3 kids where it is LOL. Have been blessed with 3 beautiful children and I just need some change in landscape. Looking forward to some good conversation and wealth of knowledge from what I have seen.

My FWIW advice. Since it's free, that's what it's worth:

1. Place first, tractor second. I'd advise politely declining ANY tractor/machinery purchase until you have the papers signed on your new abode, because what you will need will vary wildly with the kind of place you end up with and what you decide to do with it after you own it.

2. Pay very close attention to your health and the pace at which you do things. In spite of what your mind tells you, at 60 your body can't physically do heavy work as quickly, as smoothly, and as easily as it did at 50 without increasingly serious negative feedback. You can still do them, just not as fast as you used to. If you learn to pace yourself, this won't be a problem. And I danged well guarantee you that rule will apply more and more harshly as you reach the tail end of your 60's, as I am. Like me, however, you will likely learn all this the hard way.

Remember the story of the young bull talking to the old bull: "Let's run over there and nail one of those cute heifers by the fence". Old Bull: "How about we walk over and nail 'em all?".

I'll agree with picker that you'll need to know your new property to find the right tactor for your needs, and as the years add up the ability slows down. There is much I'd like to do just can't any more and even walking to the fence won't help!:laughing:Dave
