My 7800 is a little more than 3 1/2 years old with the OEM battery. It seems to be cranking a little slower lately. I plan to replace shortly, but does anyone have experience on how long they usually last?

I've had my B-7800 for about 4 years or so and the battery seems strong, even in the winter when temps. get down in the 20's. We even had some temps., down close to 0 and she still fired up without any hesitation or weakness. I guess it is like a car battery, sometimes you get a good one and sometimes you get a bad one. I can't recall if it said anything in the book about the battery. Make sure your cables are clean and tight.

My 2000 L3410 is on it's original battery. I don't run it in winter much, just to move snow piles when they get too big to snow blow over....

Strange as it seems, sometimes out here in the desert, batterys have a shorter life. They don't seem to hold up well in 120 degree heat.

I read a post on batteries from a guy that worked at a lab for a major battery manufacturer.

He said:
The average lead acid battery will last 4 years, so if you abuse it you might get 2.5, if you really take care of it you might get 5. Either way if you have a 3.5 year old battery, I would start shopping for a new one.
Doesn't matter if you buy the 5 year warranty or the 2 year warranty battery they are basically all the same, the only difference is how much you pay so when you turn in that 5 year battery for replacemaent it doesn't cost the battery company a dime.
Heat is harder on a battery than cold is.
All batteries start sulfating from the moment they are charged and that is what kills them.

This is just a snippet of the info he provided that I could remember, sorry :(

Invest wisely upon replacement (don't be cheap-o).

I replace my battery every two years. Yah I know many here think this is a bit obsessive. But if you NEED the tractor to start when you need it to start, it is cheap insurance. When it is well below zero and the snow is pilling up...you tell me!!!!!

Just my $0.02

Our OEM L-3130 battery is now almost 5 years old and the tractor has 1,200 hours on it and the battery works perfectly. Never charged it once or added any water.
