Lift arms not working 2840

The lift arms on the 3 point hitch are locked in the up position; the bush hog will not drop down. Tractor is the same as a Montana 2840 (actually a Farmtrac 300 DTC). Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be?

There should be a knob just under the front of the seat that controls the speed of the drop of the 3pt hitch. This could be turned in the wrong position and it will lock the hitch in place.
I frequently hit it when getting on and off the tractor. It is kind of a poor placement if you ask me. Most all of us have done it one time or another.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, that's not it. That was the first thing I checked. It is probably related though. The knob is locked up tight and won't turn either way.

just went out and checked my 2840 and there is a jam nut between the knob and the manifold is it possible that the jam nut is tight and will not allow you to turn the knob?

it could be that the controls have broke inside take a look at the image if number 12 has snaped this will not allow the 3 pt to work. easy fix

Unrelated to the OP's problem but, do you have a parts manual/service manual in a PDF format that you could possibly share with us for different model montana tractors? I have been wanting to get a service manual fo my tractor but havent yet. Thanks

Looking at the specs on your machine I believe it's a cousin to the FT 27DTC or the 320DTC. They appear to be identical with the exception of the Mitsu powerplant in yours. The 300 Farmtrac is a bit different.
