I am a new member and I just posted a thread in probably wrong section (hydraulics). I have a 1964 MF 165 with a MF 235 front end loader. The lift bucket will not stay in position when it meets any resistance. When scooping the bucket will either bite into the ground or ride up over the pile of material. When scrapping the bucket easily moves out of position. I have a Cross controller with two 4-way valves, one for the lift and one for the bucket. The valve for the lift has a float position. I have replaced all the seals and O-rings in the bucket cylinders, although they really did not need them and the Cross valves have been disassembled and there are no sign of any possible problems here. The hydraulic system has no leaks and is powered by a separate aux pump connected to the engine.(plenty of flow).
Anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem may be?
