I used a 5gal bucket and a strategically placed hole for years.:D. P on the posts around yer garden, supposed to help keep critters away.

I think I need some design pointers as I am starting to read up on this.

I found this system for example: SaniPlus

Page 3 picture 6 shows the 'lift' and then then 1% fall in the line. I guess this is not possible for me as from the shop to the sewer is a 100 ft distance with 1 ft higher inlet than shop floor.

Are these systems not for me?

How can I put this mildly?
You are making this way over complicated, a small lift station for your workshop that is buried outside the foundation next to the building is the simple and easy way to go. If you have a Ferguson Plumbing Supply or something similar in your area stop by there and have them show you a small lift station. With this unit you use regular plumbing fixtures and as I posted before once you see it you will get it. I wouldn't be too concerned about long cycles in this application for a workshop. We are talking about a $500 dollar item to cure your problem and this is how it is done most of the time.

Let me add that you can install these inside below grade if necessary. I would prefer it to be outside for any repairs. You will need it deep enough to protect from freezing too.\

The more complex the sytem and components get the more costly and the more failures you will have.
