light switch replacement on JD 1994 855

hi:

has anyone out there replaced the light switch (combo switch) on
a JD 1994 855?

our switch shaft does not turn/frozenup.

i had to cut the switch knob off with a dremel as the screw
that holds the switch knob on was frozen/rusted out.

we have the part # and i am evaluating the best access
to the switch.

Access is going to be the killer. Hard to get your hands up under the dash to get to anything. May have to remove the fuel tank to gain access. Might also help to hire that guy from the burger commercials with the tiny hands.

JD should have put a cover plate on the side for access...
i looked at the side plate before but removing the tank
is an interesting option.

Look at side panels.
It is even possible to take the whole cluster out without touching the tank.

I have the same problem with my switch on my 1990. I also hve a bad cable on the back of my tach/hr meter I guess I better do it all at the same time...got the cable ordered but havent found the part number for the switch.
