Hi All,

Just finished the installation of (3) 55 W lights that mount on a length of angle iron just under the ROPS. The lights were purchased at Autozone for $35 and the angle iron was lying around. The junction box, two push on switches, insulation landscape wire, inline fuse, and black spray paint were all under $20. There are two switches on that runs the 1 lights to the back and 1 switch were turns on the 2 lights in the front, then they have a common hot lead from the battery with an inline fuse. Check out the following pictures.

Thanks for all the previous installs and pictures, they definitely helped in the designed process.

-Geoff

My goodness nurseryman!

Are you sure you didn't totally comprimise the structural integrity of your ROPS by drilling two screws into it ;)

In all seriousness though... I was just wondering about a good way to mount a few worklights. I was planning to purchase a sunshade and mount on that but I'm going to push off my sunshade project for a while.

I'd prefer to not drill into mine but your general setup gave me a couple ideas. I never fold my ROPS down and there is a nice set of holes on the ROPS bracket that I think I could get a black metal pipe though and mount on that.

Band and 2-part squeeze calmps are good non detrimental rops mounting fixtures..e tc.

Just make sure your electrical system is up for the additional 14a load. i know some tractor charging systems are 'just barely adequate'.. etc.

Soundguy.. you're full of good ideas.

I would have thought that band clamps would eventually move about with the vibration of the tractor... but sure sounds like it is worth a shot. I guess one could just get each light put directly on the ROPS with a couple band clamps.

Not sure if I can think of a squeeze clamp that wouldn't look ugly has heck there. If you have in mind - let us know.

Of course, those are no longer holes. Their structural material changes. :)

It seems to me that forces that would transition tangentially on the drilled hole still will, but those that would seek transition across the hole will still do this, except they move into the grade ? bolt. But I'm just guessing here; its early, my brain still thinks it is the land of dreams of knowing something.

I wouldn't drill without an engineering breakdown on this, but the setup is beautiful and exactly what I want.

Those TractorTunes boxes we see advertised mount with clamps, so someone thinks the vibration is not a problem.

I have a fire extinguisher mounted on my rops using a big band clamp.. under the clamp is a piece of old innertube I cut up. Clamp has moved -0- in the last 4 ys I've had the FE installed.. and my pasture ain't smooth.

As for squeeze clamps.. that what my canopy is using to hold on to my rops. My rops on that 7610s is rectangular tubing. The squeeze clamp is nothing more than 2 pieces of flat strapping.. say.. 1/4' thick, bent to sandwhich the rectangular tube, and each have a flange that mates to t he other half of the clamp.. where there is a bolt to hold them. The formed the clamp so that it was interference fit .. IE.. the flanges don't touch.. thus the bolt is held in tension.. and holds the clamps in place.. etc.

That's 1 part of the canopy support. the other are U-bolts.. with a flat bracket that goes across the side where the nuts go on,, again.. no movement.. and the u bolt material is thick.. either 1/2".. or possibly 5/8.. kinda like leaf spring bolts.. or lift kit bolts for truck frames..

My canopy on my rops has never moved.. my ex Nh 1920 was like that as well.
