or a Timex watch, my Yannie IS one tough little machine!

We here in Oklahoma, just got hit by that blizzard weather system that has tracked a couple of thousand miles across & up through the midwest.
It dumped 14 to 20 inches of snow on us, piled up 3 to 5 foot drifts and left behind 0 to sub 0 temps. Broke records all over the area. Worst snow/blizzard
I have exp in my 60+years here. For you folks up north, probably not much of a storm. We here are just not used to, nor equipped for this stuff.

Back to the Yanmar.
My 1610D w/1400 hrs on her, sets outside under a tarp in a not very protected spot. No functioning Thermostart. Lows yesterday & today
-1 & -6. The little sweetheart has started both mornings & has performed flawlessly.

Amazing!!!!

Probably has saved me from a heart attack or stroke. I don't see how I could have moved the drifts from my front & back entances without her.
I am Glad I have Her. One tough little tractor!

I would say that snow fall makes for along day no matter where you live. From what I am lead to believe 1"-2" of snow will shut down the west coast. In Europe this winter I think the coastal countries received 4 "-6" and were ground to a halt for days.

Dallas barley got that much and the whole town is shut down for the Super Bowl.. Always makes me laugh how unprepared everyone down south is for this stuff. I've got 7'+ snow piles from my 2500HD and Curtis plow all over my driveway.

True. We get snow (California's Central Valley, sea level) about once per 10-20 years. Total chaos. Nobody expects it to be slippery, they've never driven in snow before. At least it all melts off by afternoon so the wreckers can get the streets cleared.

And the flatlanders who ski in the Sierras are just as bad. Buy a SUV and toboggan down the west side of Donner Pass at 75mph. You always see new SUV's backwards in the bushes alongside the downgrades.

Can't really figure out why it would make you laugh? People are hurt in car accidents, some freezing to death. Houses catching fire and Police and Fire having a hard time responding to calls. How well are you prepared for hurricanes and dust storms? In our recent ice event, instead of laughing, I bundled up and took my Yanmartha out and cleared driveways of my neighbors for nothing. The grocery stores were empty. All secondary roads were black ice. I could hardly get my 4Runner back into the driveway after attempting to drive down my street. Yes, we are unprepared due to the rarity of these events. Why is that funny?

I laugh because there is no reason for any of it. 1-2" of white powder is nothing. People cause accidents, not snow. If the state doesn't have the equipment to deal with it, take it up with your local municipality..

I can post pics of the 3'+ of snow i have in my yard, and my wife's 2wd, rwd Mercedes she drives everyday, all day and not one accident.

Amazing how soft most of the country is when it comes to this type of thing.

There is a reason for it. People in the south prefer to keep their money in their pockets instead of working just to pay taxes. It would be stupid for a state like Alabama to invest millions of dollars in snow equipment that will only be used two or three times a year. Alabama likes to waste money on things like bringing good paying jobs to the state.

With regard to your wife's driving ability, if she grew up in the south and lived here all of her life, she would not have that driving experience because snow is not the norm down here like it is in the north. Me personally, I grew in in northern AZ so driving in snow and ice is no big deal to me; however, I live int he south now and the vast majority don't have that experience. I don't worry about me, I worry about them.
