You are now.....Awesome Achers.!!!

For the first time I fully understand gauge wheels. Makes total sense.;)

Thank you very much.

I want.

I am restoring my driveway at this time. I have a rake and a rear blade. It didn't take me long to realize that getting the gravel smooth is going to be a challenge.

I am considering a box blade. It seems to be me there was a recent thread comparing BB to a rake with wheels.?? Can't find it.

Does anyone have a comment on a Rake w/wheels VS. a Box Blade for maintaining a 175' gravel driveway.??

Thanks soo much Achers. And, well said.

You're welcome. And I think you will find there are as many opinions as what is the best implement for driveway maintnence as there is implements. I have been maintaining my driveway for over 12 years now. Which is 450' long with a parking area by the garage and a loop to turn around in. The best tool I have found to date, is a landscape rake with gauge wheels. You can't move a ton of material at any one time, but for dressing up the driveway in the shortest amount of time I'll put my money on the rake. Good luck.

I'm trying to think of a time I would need to turn my rake around 180 degees. As long as I have gauge wheels, I cannot come up with a scenerio that would require me to do so. Or at least I haven't to date. Anyone else find this to be true? That's kind of the selling point to the gauge wheels. You can fine turn the height of the rake to do pretty much anything you want it to do. Or am I missing something here?

I flip mine quite a bit. One recent example is after I raked up a pile of leaves, I turned the rake around and pushed them onto the garden spot. That way I wasn't making big ruts in the freshly tilled, freshly rained on garden. I'll do a similar trick when I'm raking piles of dead branches out from under the old willow tree. I'll pull the branches accross the small pasture to the slash pile. After I get all of the branches over there, I'll turn the rake around to push the branches onto the pile. The only other option I can see is actually driving over the pile. Since the pile is about 5 feet high now, I'll pass on driving over it.
