Barry, I also changed to Mobil 1 on the first oil change. Now at 250 hours and no leaks other than a filter I did not get tight enough 1 time. I also practice a little overkill and change out the Mobil 1 every 50 hours...I think I could probably go longer with the Mobil 1 oil but it's not that expensive....YET!
Over kill is good, I do the same thing. ;)

Are you saying that a quart of Mobil 1 is not expensive? $5.95 may not be expensive to you, but that is about 4 times more than dino oil. If you were to put that Mobile 1 in the hydraulic system, you would get a shock. That would be $94.00 to replace the dino oil. Now Mobile 1 at $5.95 a qt times 80 quarts, [ 20 gal ] = $470.00 This is relative to a PT-1445, and larger units.

No J.J. I didn't say that. Only agreeing with Farmall140 and Bob, that changing out the engine oil every 50 hours is a good thing to help protect your investment.

I can, afford a few quarts of engine oil even at 5.95 a bottle every 50 hours. Now when you’re talking about the hydraulic tank, that's a whole other animal. :)

The 22 HP engine is only a little over a quart of oil. I did changed the hydraulic oil to Mobil 1 and yeah that was expensive.

OK,
To me $500 may or may not be important. What is more important to me is... how much do i worry about it??? If $500 per year protects my $20-25K investment (real or imagined), is it worth it???
$500 per year -- kids don't eat. NO, NOT WORTH IT!!!
$500 per year -- $500 Ishouldn'thavewastedthatmoneybutI'mnotreally missingit. I'M PROBABLY OK WITH IT

I guess it really depends on what's going on. Hobby vs Livelyhood.

You don't have to change transmission fluid but every 5 years or so. The 422 has a 10 gallon reservoir -$238. Not so bad. If it were $500 a year, no way.
