I live in south Tx and we have this tire killing tree called Mesquite!!!! I have spent a ton on Slime and tire sealers. But getting a little tired of adding air all the time.:mad: I thought by purchasing some of the tire reliners from Gemplers would or could solve my problem but the 17.9x28 one the sent me is about as thick as the inner tube at the most. So I had access to about 100ft of old conveyor belt and some short 10ft pieces that were new and this stuff is about a good 3/8 thick and im not sure how many layers of belt is in it but it seems extreeemly tuff and it bends enough that I think it might work. Going to give it a try this weekend and see what happens.:thumbsup:
Also I dont have a valve stem guard so I was thinking of using some 1 1/2 pipe threaded and weld it to the rim just high enough for valve stem to get air up and put a cap on it and I think that should due the trick..

Will post some photos latter. :dance1:

Can't wait to hear how it turns out. Seems like it should work good.

I heard a story of someone hired to clear some acreage of mesquite, who ended up fitting some old steel wheels to his tractor for the job.

I dont see any reason why it would work....or at least help. You are tight, that belting is some tough stuff.

I word of caution though.....DONT weld on that rim with the tire on and air in it. If you dont take the tire completely off, at least pull the valve stem and it wouldnt hurt for it to be unseated from the bead.

If all else fails, get the tires filled with foam. Makes for a rough ride from what others have posted, but you will never have a flat again.

Looks like a softer foam fill has been designed:

The biggest challenge will be keeping the edges and ends of the belting from abrading the tube. Tubes don't like wrinkles, edges or anything other than smooth surfaces to work against. And tubes do move around inside tires more than you would think.

foam em if it's that bad that you need a convery belt as a boot.,
