List price on the 2720?

I stopped by one dealer today and asked them for a quote on a 2720/ mower combination.

The list price they have on their quote sheet is $19,709 and they discount it to $17,139.

Build your own has the list price at $17,613... setup delivery and freight should be less than $700.

They quoted the mower at $3,355 discounted to $2,945 when Build your own says it's $2,450 ( neither is including the independent lift.

Dealer gouging or is Build your own wrong?

Sounds like an error somehwere. I would expect the 19,709 discount to 17,139 to be for the total of the 2720 + the mower deck. Check the quote again and make sure you are reading it correctly and then talk to them. Some dealers right it up confusing, but that is what I would expect the numbers to be. I know for my dealer it would show on the front a total price and total discount like that and then break it up on the following pages...

I had the same issue with I think the same dealer for a new 2520. After multiple visits I brought along a printout of the JD configurator numbers hoping the dealer might be swayed. The dealer stood his ground and thought their prices were very competitive. Came very "very" close to an out of state deal, but another JD delaler price (unknowingly) split the price difference of what I would have saved if I had bought from out of State.

Understandably not all the costs are shown on the confifurator shipping etc.. Congrats to all of you that can buy JD at 10-15% of the configurator prices, but that doesn't seem to be the case up here. :(

It was not an error. I confronted them about their practice and let them know that I don't treat my business that way and I didn't think it was good business practice. I also let them know they lost the deal. They know enough about me to know that they just lost a moderate amount of business over the next few years.

I got an out of state quote from an aggressive company as backup and also went to another dealer within driving distance. They were within dollars of each other so I'll keep my business here and said company will now get my sales, service, and parts.

Being straightforward and honest goes along way even if you don't have the lowest price.
