Greetings all!

Been awhile since my last post, to much going on. Well we had 10 inches of snow Thursday evening and early Friday morning, the really wet heavy stuff. I was going to go hook up the blade and loader and give Little Blue a little excercise and as luck would have it she didn't like the wet heavy snow/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif. I couldn't even get enough traction to get my blade or loader hooked up/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif. That was the first time that had ever happened. Well you know what that means! Time to buy some chains. Nothing worse than letting the neighbors down in their time of need /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif. Luckily one of my neighbors has a set of chains that will fit the front, question is should I also get a set for the back? Looking for a little impute here. Tell me what you guy's think. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Looks like we got the same storm last night that you had Cliff, but the ownly differents the snow fall measure 1/4"..whew. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

By the sounds you are useing turf tires, and if your are useing turf tires indeed chains are a blessing in heavy or wet snow, mud, slopes.
Tire chains on the front..there has been a lot of talk about that here on TBN..some do and some don't,just about every dealer and tech says not to use tire chains on the front, for its to hard on the 4wd.
I would purchase a darn good set of chains for the rear, than if needed later on purchase a front set.

Little blue didn't let you down for she was ready to work, just that dad forgot to cover her feet for traction. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I wished that was all we had gotten. I have to admit I am getting tired of Winter, ready to get the tiller out!

I thought there was a little controversy as whether or not to use chains on the front. I'll check out the post on the subject.

Dad just wasn't prepared for the wet stuff or the mud underneath. I'll be ready next year!. I think a set of chains for those big turf tires are not cheap.

Appreciate the impute! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

4WD with turfs on the front is still quite a loss with loader work. Have you priced another set of wheels and tires (assuming you want to keep the turfs?) Although our BX is the tinest of the lot, a set of 4 ag tires and wheels were $300. They came all mounted and ready to go.

Del,

This was the first time I had ever had a problem with traction (unusual circumstances as well). I have used the loader often and never had a problem with the turf tread. I hadn't really considered the option of a second set of tires and wheels although a neighbor of mine does this for his. May have to do some scouting around.

Thing is most of the time is spent mowing and some dirt work. I'll have to do a little more research! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I have a TC29D with turf tires i'm building a new house with a 430 foot driveway thats got a good slope after getting stuck a few times with the first 6" snowstorm i bought a good set of tractor tire chains ($160.00)for the rear now i can drive through a foot and a half of snow its like night and day i cant believe the differance that chains made for traction, also its not recomended putting chains on the front i was told by the tractor dealer. "Keep your tires just get some chains."

I looked into a set of rims and r4's for my B8200 Kubota. Yes, tires and rims; most turf tires take a wider rim, and R1 or R4 won't mount right. I was lookin at about $900. I think your tractor is similar sized; would expect the same.

For most stuff, I like the turfs; much easier on stuff. But, there are times when a more aggressive tire would be nice.
