Shifting from fourth to third for a small hill the lever moved all the way to the dash. Tractor remains in 4 gear. Lever moves freely now, up, down, back and forth and does nothing. How do I fix this please?
At the top of the transmission, the shift rod from the transmission case and the dash mounted lever join in a coupling with a roll pin securing the dash lever to the shift rod. Mine works it's way out every once in a while. If you haven't lost the pin simply drive it back into position; if it's missing you can pick one up at any hardware store
This sounds pretty encouraging. Since I asked, I found a mechanic close by with lots of tractor experience tho it was mostly on Cats and John Deere stuff. I'm taking the tractor to him tomorrow. He's going to rebuild the spool assembly that is leaking.
Thanks for the help. was delayed in responding because my ISP thinks everything is spam. I had to go fish my msgs out of their spam tank.
