I've been looking into Kubota, but have found a Kioti dealer nearby who I like. the Kioti model he has that would work for me (besides the ck20) is the LB1914 (20.5 gross hp). I noticed on Carver's site that they list a deal on the "LK1914" (19hp). the local dealer swears that they've made a mistake and that the smaller LK1914 does kioti doesn't exist. Can someone please shed some light here?

Also, has anyone used the 6.5 ft backhoe on the LB (lk?)? Is it a subframe mount? how has is worked?

thanks in advance!

Cheers,

If you go to the Kioti web page , it is the LB 1914, not LK (like the 25hp and 30hp).

As Markie said it's called an LB1914. Don't ask why! It's an ancient South Korean secret. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif The 1440 KIOTI backhoe is an awesome little powerhouse. Remember the tractor weighs in at around 4000 lbs with a loader and hoe on it. That and the strength of the hoe equals some very serious digging power. I believe it is one of the strongest if not THE stongest 6.5' hoe on the market. That 6.5' is to a 2ft flat bottom. It is subframe mounted and disconnects easily.

thanks for the info. the weight is the biggest benefit i can see to these small tractors. they seems to be at least a few hu ndred pounds heavier than the equivalent HP "big 3". is this just better construction? or is there a different approach/design that I should be familiar with?

thanks, again.

KIOTI uses thicker castings and there is little if any use of aluminum and plastic on the tractors. The South Koreans tend to "overbuild" just about everything tractor related.

Mariner - There is nothing to dislike about the 1914. I bought one about 7 months ago with the FEL. I am coming up on 50 hours with zero complaints. Kioti uses the same engine in both the 1914 and the new CK20. The CK20 has plastic fenders. Last weekend, a large ext ladder fell and hit my fender...it only scratched the paint. I didn't think you had any flat land in Marin, just steep hills. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The prototype I saw had metal fenders. The productions models are just beginning to hit the dealerships this week. Can anybody out there verify?

As someone who lived in Korea for 2 years I can tell ya that wood, paper, plastics and aluminum are extremely hard to come by and expensive. Metals, except brass are easily found there and within there neighboring countries. Which is good for us Korean tractor buyers. Also Daedong is a household name like Johnny D. I would almost bet ya the farm it's been around twice as long as JD.

I believe the ck20 I saw had metal fenders. I wasn't aware that there are prototypes out there, but the salesman said that he had the first tractors off the boat, since we're close to the port of entry. at least that is how it was presented to me. I was a little confused because I saw both HST and geared versions of the ck20 and had thought that these were all going to be HST tractors. Also, I thought that it was designed as a TLB, but found that they don't even have a backhoe out there for it yet. I was told that there's one in the works, but not yet available. can anyone confirm?

my biggest concern about the CK20 is that it's a new model that appears to be a complete departure from the 1914 (I didn't know that it is the same engine, so that makes me feel somewhat more secure). Otherwise, it's just about what I'm after, assuming I can get a good backhoe on it. If not, I'd be inclined to go without HST in return for a proven backhoe on the lb 1914.

It was reported here that the CK20 will use the same backhoe as the 1914.

<font color="blue"> If you have a dealer close by, see if they have a LB1914 with a loader and Hoe. If you like the way the hoe operates on the 1914, you'll like it on a CK20. They will be the same hoe. The CK WILL have more loader lift and will be the radius arm style but the hoe will be the same you see on a 1914. The CK is only around 135 lbs lighter than the 1914. We have sold quite a few of them, even with the extra heft of the tractor with loaded tires, the hoe can pick up the tractor and move it!
