I don't think there is liquid in the tires. What's the best way of finding out, just press the valve and see if liquid comes out?

I always operate in 4WD, never 2WD. I don't think it should make a difference, but I will try in 2WD.

Based on your answers I do believe it is a clutch issue.

If it would work in 4WD, then it could be a problem with the transmission.

If the tires are loaded and air pressure is too low, the rim could spin inside the tire. But because in 4WD that is not the issue.

The SX was a shuttle transmission. If the roll pin was out of the lever, then it could just be not engaging in gear properly. If that was the case, you would hear that and I doubt you would see any movement.

That leaves just the clutch adjustment or bad clutch. Being a 2 stage it will be a little more expensive to fix.

Overall, that is a nice machine and IMO worth having it fixed.

Sorry we could not find something simple to fix. Hope you get her going soon!

I wanted to let you know that it was just the clutch adjustment; tractor is now working OK.
Thanks for your replies.

Does the necessity of clutch adjustment something that is indicative of a failing clutch or something that needs to be done from time to time?

Could be a bit of both.
Clutch adjustments may need done from time to time.
But if it needs frequent adjustments, the operator is either slipping the clutch excessively or the clutch could be showing signs of failing

The clutch needs periodic check and adjustment (as needed) to correct for friction material wear, the throw-out bearing wear, and clutch linkages wear. On my DK this is part of the scheduled maintenance every 100 hours.

A slipping clutch (from misadjustment or operator abuse) will cause excessive clutch wear. With proper adjustment and operator technique a tractor clutch should last a LONG time. Maybe others will chime in but the only clutch work I recall reading about here was the result of operator abuse. Be careful who you lend your tractor to.
