Please tell me about your experiences with the Kioti lk3054. I've got a used one in mind to buy, but I need to know what kinds of problems they have, or if people love them to death.
Does this model have down pressure on the 3 point? The current owner of this tractor doesn't know.

No,
There are no compact utility tractors that have down pressure on the 3 point that I am aware of.

I guess I wouldn't have thought of this tractor - at 3000 lbs and 30HP - as a compact. I think of the 25HP and lower as compact. Thank you for your reply! Might still think about buying this tractor anyway; I don't know how necessary down pressure is for what we're doing on our five acres.
Would you happen to know about the hydraulics on this machine? I think I'm learning that some tractors have more than one set of hydraulics.

No tractor, regardless of size has down pressure on the 3pt hitch. You can get implements like a post hole digger that provide down pressure, but the hitch itself won't. My 7000lbs DK45 is still a CUT, you'd have to go up a fair bit to be considered a Utility tractor.

Some tractors use one hydraulic pump and some use two. Others will say they use two pumps but it actually a dual pump. I believe the CK line uses two pumps, I have no idea about the lk3054. It's probably more likely you're referring to hydraulic remotes or ports. These are at the back of the tractor with the 3 pt hitch and allow you to provide hydraulic power to implements like snowblowers. How many you will need depends on what implements you'll be using, but on the newer tractors (CK and DK and maybe even RX), you can only get two remote ports from Kioti, then you have to go aftermarket. I have two but would like a third, but it's not worth the cost and hassle to do it. The CK and DK's also have two hydraulic filters, not sure if that may be what you're thinking about.

This may help. TractorData.com - Kioti tractors sorted by model

Thank you! You can tell this will be the first time I've operated a tractor. Book learning only goes so far, though, huh.

Very true, but it's a great place to start. I was totally confused and had no idea what to look for the first time I bought a tractor (JD 955), but that was before finding TBN, you can learn a lot here. Within 3 years I had bought three tractors, the 955, a CK30 and finally my current DK45. Buy a tractor that seems bigger than what you really need, it won't be in the end! Have fun and good luck.

You haven't said what you want to use it for?
This is a valid way to determine what tractor fits your needs now and future.

Five acres with a large garden, horses, sheep and chickens. Moving large bales of hay, manure management, grading some slopes that need to be brought down a little, running a wood chipper and log splitter, snow removal from our driveway which has a steep grade. I'd love to be able to move some dirt around - a former owner put in a huge earth berm that blocks access to the "back half" of our property, but I've been told I'd be better off renting an excavator to do that job. I probably won't be using it to till the garden area, as we plan to have permanent raised beds.

You have a lot of tasks to perform, and will need implements to accomplish them. Downforce on the 3PH is not needed. You may want to shop around for other used and possibly even some new tractors to see what best fits your particular situation. I don't know how well the 30 HP used Kioti will do with the large hay bales, but others here will be able to answer that point. I would hazard a guess to do what you want plus future use you'd be best off in the 4 cylinder 40 HP range, like a DK-40 series, or slightly larger. Shop around, ask questions make notes, keep learning/looking.

I have to agree, it sounds like you need something bigger. Large bails are going to be a problem for the lk3054, especially on hilly terrain. I think you'd be going down the same road I did, buying your first tractor only to trade it for something bigger right away.

For new tractors, it would come down to Kioti and LS for me. LS has been selling tractors under their own brand for a few years now. You'd have to look into who they made tractors for before that if you wanted something older, it's been shifting around a little. I'd also take a quick look for left over Bobcat tractors (CT440/45/50). They're made by Kioti (Daedong actually) with a different loader. They're getting out of the tractor business so you may be able to find a great deal on remaining stock if you can still find it. Kubota are nice, but you need to be in the L4240 range or greater to get something for your needs, and that may be a little spendy, I'm not sure what LXX30 model (previous generation) or LXX60 model (next generation) would be equivalent.
