Yep is is me with yet another question.

I was tooling around on some Kubota's yesterday.... Please don't stoop over to pick up any stones or other blunt objects. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I liked the layout of the units I tried. They had a lever on the column for engine rpm's, and a F/R shift lever. On the left side you had your Hi/Lo selector lever with your gear choices 1/4, or a Glideshift lever for all gears. The floor had a clutch to the left with two brakes on the right with a throttle pedal also on the right.

Can anyone give me an idea of the layout on a 3054? I have looked at all the literature I could find but am not able to see well enough what is going on. Ie. is the gear shifter a lever on the left side, or is it on the floor? Is there a rpm lever on the column and a throttle pedal on the floor?

I sure wish I could try one of these buggers. Then I would not have to plague you all every day.

Thanks again.

I have a brand new 3054XS TLB out front. There is a 4 speed gear shifter on the dash to the left of the steering wheel. Hi/lo range shifter to the left of the seat. Behind that is the forward/reverse shuttle shifter. The throttle leaver is to the right of the dash and an override throttle pedal on the right floorboard. Two individual brake pedals (can be locked together) on the right floorboad. Clutch pedal on the left floorboard. The gear shifter and the shuttle shifter of placed opposite from most other tractors, but nice once you are use to it.

Thanks for the reply.

Is the forward reverse lever convenient located where it is on the side? Is the gear shifter on the dash pretty easy to get used to? When you say the throttle pedal is an override, could you explain what you mean. The Kubota's I was on you could set the engine rpm's, and the "gas" pedal on the floor governed your speed within the performance range determined by the rpm's of the engine as set by the dash control. Or at least that is what I think I experienced.

Thanks for the input

The F/R stick is pretty convenient in my opinion, but may take some getting used to if you're right-handed as it comes up out of the floor on the left side. The gear shifter, to me, is quite easy to operate, and I think you'll find that you don't really use it as much as you do the shuttle, basically setting it for the operating gear you wish to use, and then F/R with the shuttle.
You may set the dash throttle and then use the foot pedal to increase speed if needed, unless you're at max RPM already. I'm sure it's the same on the Kubota. Think of the dash throttle as cruise control. I think for most operations, you wouldn't necessarily set that at all, but would simply use the foot pedal from idle up.

Both the forward/reverse lever and the gear shifter are nicely located, just different than most other tractors. In fact I like it better in that you use the forward/reverse lever more than the gear shifter and you don't have to reach so far for it. It is right beside you at your left hip. I call the foot thottle an override because you set the throttle with the hand lever. The foot pedal will only increase the thottle and when you leave up off the pedal the thottle will go back down to the hand thottle setting. This is the way most tractor throttle controls operate that have a foot pedal.

I agree, I like the F/R shift lever next to your left arm instead of located on the left side of the steering column. It is much more like the larger series AG tractors.

I spent some time this afternoon at my local dealer's back lot driving and digging with a 3054 and a CK20. I used to own a Kubota L2900 TLB and the 3054 seems to be more intuitive especially when doing loader work. It's definitely more of a workhorse than my L2900 was.

While the gearshift lever has been relocated on the XS as compared to my older unit, the F/R shuttle lever is in the same place. I find it very convenient – it falls right to hand.
