Ok so that was no fun. She’s running. I removed clamp and top of hose in pick and without turning the key air came out until flow of fuel. Put hose back on and cranked some more and she fired in short order. Had to try a few times but she’s now running. Yay.

Glad you got her going again! In the future, just don't try to crank with the fuel cutoff turned to air and you will be fine. I sometimes fill filter with fuel before installing, or I turn the valve to air and let it sit for a few minutes to fill the filter. Then turn valve to on and it always starts right up.

Cranking and still no fire. View attachment 556911

Can you tell me what this valve does?

I don't know about that valve, or whatever it is. My DK does not have such a valve. But the attached hose (that you opened to let air out) is supposed to let overflow fuel (or air) go back to the fuel tank, probably via the overflow nipples on the injectors. The fact that this didn't happen (air automatically purged) may mean something is stopped up in that overflow circuit. The injectors always allow some fuel to get past the poppet (no seal here, just very close metal-to-metal tolerances) and that fuel is routed back to the fuel tank.

My 2001 DK 35 has that valve on the pump..
My owners manual says it is used if discharging air is needed due to running out of fuel, filter or fuel line change.
Owners manual says to discharge air.
Open cock in the fuel injection pump.
start engine and stop it after it has run 1 minute
Close the fuel injection pump cock.
The fuel injection pump cock must be kept closed except when discharging air.

Too funny!! That little valve would’ve saved me some pain! I should’ve read my manual! The hose I removed was the hose with the shiny hose clamp. It is the hose from the lift pump to the injector pump. That little valve would’ve likely done the same thing. Mistake I made was not filling bowl prior to restart.

Vince is there anything you don’t know about these machines?

Kioti apparently uses a variety of different provisions for bleeding air from the fuel lines and filter. While the details may be model-specific, the general idea id that you have to displace (almost) all the air with fuel.
