I am looking at the XR4145HC with the LL4104 FEL which has a rated lift capacity of 2713 lbs at the pins. I was wondering if someone with actual experience (unlike me) could tell me if that FEL should be able to lift a 2400 lb pallet from the back of a semi?

I was moving logs on a set of forks a couple weeks ago with my 4145 (shuttle). I picked up a piece of oak that was a little better than 24" diameter and 16' long (it was longer originally but I had to cut it in half because it was too heavy to lift). It squatted the front tires right down (R1's, 18psi). I have loaded rears and had the backhoe on and I'll bet the rears were barely touching the ground. I didn't have to lift it more than 3 feet to set it on the pile, but it had no problem doing that. According to one of the log weight calculators I found (below), it was more than the 2700# limit, but I was going slowly and it was the last chunk I had to move.

I have a LSXR4145 but cannot comment on lifting 2400lbs. I bet it would be close. Is anyone else concerned that the skid steer quick attach carrier is about 5-6" off of the ground when fully lowered? I am going to have trouble with this when not using the factory supplied bucket. This seems odd and not ideal. I would also like to see at least 1" of rollback on the quick attach for when using forks.

I'd say no, not safely. I read your post yesterday and thought I would help out. I filled one of those plastic tanks in a cage with about 300 gallons of water(maybe 2500lbs?), set my bucket over the tank and chained the tank to my bucket. The tank was directly under my bucket. I could just barley pick it up about 10" off the ground. My bucket was probably about 4 1/2 to 5' off the ground. I had a large, 6' box blade on the rear. I started moving in 1st gear and in doing so one or the other of my rear tires would lift off the ground. I have no ballast or weights other than the 6' BB.

Right at the ground would be a different story. I was able to pickup and load a 2600lb stump onto a low trailer but again it was pretty tippy. We weighed the stump so I'm sure of the weight.

I would just need to get it off the back of the truck then lower it down to move it where it was going. The moving it part would be on pretty flat ground and the tractor would have loaded rears and some implement on the back.

I think the tractor will physically do it. How safe depends on the operator and the conditions. It is right at the limits.

No the tractor will not lift that much weight on pallet forks. You are going to be somewhere between 2000-2250 lbs.

If you need to regularly lift that type of weight off of a truck, you need the next size up machine.

I would not need to lift it regularly. Maybe once ever or at least only every few years

Ok, then will you be able to unload a bit of the weight by hand first? Otherwise, you'll very likely be unable to lift it off the deck.
