Thanks for the info. I'm glad I asked the question. I figured the concrete pad would provide a better anchor for the house but I had never considered having to relevel the house every few years. That was a good piece of information.
The house prices around here are high. My parents live in the a gated community in Florida and even they were commenting on how the house prices are around here. The numbers I was quoting were for modular houses. Trailers where in the 30-40 dollars price range as I remember. Those numbers are based on asking price. We never got to the "what are you really going to sell for" stage.
I think we have a workable solution for our housing needs. We have some work to do this year with permits, builders, and designs. If the economy does not get worse I think we can build next year. If they economy does get worse we may go for a trailer.
