One thing I have discovered at least with my tractor is when shifting my speed ranger I find they if the loader is off the ground and there is no stress on the tractor It shifts very easy. When I am digging with the loader I find low range is best but to transport I use mid range so I shift back and forth constantly. Even if the loader is empty if the loader is on the ground it doesn't want to shift. Same with 4 wheel drive. It appears that for all the range selectors to glide smoothly there need to be no load on the Hydraulic system. I think it is because the Hydraulics for the loader and the HST share the same fluid

Timber,

My B7500 sometimes won't shift but I have never found it to be related to load/noload on the FEL. For me it usually seems to be that the HST pedal is not quite centered - usually if I rock the HST it solves the problem. Sometimes it also seems to be that the internal gears are not aligned, but again rocking the HST without the clutch in generally takes care of that.
