Loader for 1320

Hi, my dealer has a used Bush Hog 1840QT Front loader, with 5' bucket and mounts for a 1220. It has all the hydralic stuff with it. It is in decent shape, could use a little paint. He wants $800 for it. New mounts to mount it on my 1320 4wd are $360 but he said he could get them for $300. I am thinking about trading my ATV in for the loader,have rear tires loaded, 4-ft brush hog, and maybe a tiller. I currently am using a 30" scoop to do my dirt moving.

Is a loader worth having? Is this a good loader? Is the price good? Will this loader work with the 1320 O.K.??

I cannot speak regarding the deal, however the Bush Hog loader I have works fine and the uses are endless.

I have never dealt with the dealer in Caldwell, however one of their mechanics lives nearby and he is very good. Bush Hog would not make a installation kit for your tractor if it did not fit.

For what it worth, I would not pay more than 60% of new value for anything used!

I believe that loader is equivalent to the 7106 which runs around $2,000.00 brand new on a new installation. After the fact it may run more. I think the price seems to be pretty good and if you only go 60% you should be right in there. And having a loader over the ATV you will love it.

Hi,
I'm not very familiar with Bush Hog loaders but there are alot of them out there. If the dealer can promise that the valves are not worn out and if the cylinders don't show signs of bad leakage(worn seals) or worn hoses then I would say $1100.00 doesn't sound to bad but I would have to agree with the 60% give or take on the condition. As far as if it would be worth having a FEL I can only say compared to a scoop you would never go back to the scoop again. I don't think there isn't anything other than mowing grass that I don't find a use for my loader. I wouldn't go without one /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Ryan,
I bought a 1220 last spring with the 7106 FEL and the 756 backhoe. It's amazing how many things you find for the loader to do.

I put in about 300 square feet of pavers and moved about 16 tons of soil and paver base in the process. I used the loader as a cart to move all the pavers where I wanted them and worked out of the bucket. I tilled and leveled a pretty large area using the bucket to drag soil where I needed it.

Whenever I'm digging anywhere on the property, I'll have the loader there instead of a cart/trailer. I moved 10 yards of mulch last spring and cleared tons of ice off the drive last week.

You can also beat back brush fairly well with it to clear a path for brush hogging.

I've thought of using it as a cement mixer, but haven't got to that job yet.

It's very helpful when you get stuck or have a front flat also.

When I'm burning brush, I use it to manipulate the fire for a better burn.

I moved firewood with it.

I planted a couple of 7 foot Canaan firs that had a root ball weighing 300 to 400 lbs, I dug some nice holes with the backhoe and positioned the trees right next to the holes without dropping them off a trailer.


I've lifted my Cadet SGT front end off the ground high enough to roll the 60" deck out from under it.

I could go on, that's my first seasons experience!

Sounds like you use your loader for everything. I think I'm going to trade my ATV in for a used loader, and brush hog, here in the spring. I should have lot's of uses for it.
