Loader goes stright up on its own! GC2300

After about 30 minutes of mowing and lifting and lowering the loader as I move throught the yard the loader just wont go up; then suddenly after about 15 seconds it just goes straight up to its highest point. I checked all cable connections-no leaks. I do hear hissing from the control arm though, and I'm wondering how hard is it to rebuild and or open up that control box to attempt to fix it. Should it be looked at by the dealer?

The valve itself is easy to take apart, but you need to know what you are looking for. I would have your dealer look at it (don't just bring him the valve, he needs to see the tracotr and loader complete... problem could be elsewhere).

Before you take it to the dealer you might want to take a quick look at the float valve. When things jam in there weird stuff happens.

When the screw in mine backed out, the loader would lower, lifting the front of the tractor, while the joystick was in the float position. Not the same I know, but could be related.

I know I don't have a Massey but check you 3 point lift handle put it in the middle not raising or lowering because usually they have priority over the other hydraulics and stuff acts weird when its in control and you don't notice it.

Tommu56, I've done that and I thought something seriously was wrong with my backhoe. It would extend out but not come back in. I spent a 1/2 hour checking all my hoses and then saw the lever on the 3-point was in the down position. I'm not sure it would affect the front loader but, its an easy thing to check off the list.
