Can anyone tell me step by step how to change the relief valve pressure on my l4240 hst-3 with the 854 loader. I have searched and have a general idea but would like to know tractor specific. I have asked my dealer three times via email over a week or two with no response at all not even we can't advise about that legally. I tried to pick up a stump I feel should be no problem and it struggled big time

I dont know step by step, but it is done with shims on the spring assembly and needs to be adjusted using a pressure guage. That being said its the first thing to check, grab a psi guage and check to make sure its even in spec. Maybe someone can chime in with what port to check and operating psi range
I know kubota says it should be 2630 psi I think I just do not know where to put the Gage to check the pressure and where to shim and if it's under on pressure rating do I go thicker on shim or thinner and does anyone have experience on press change vs shim thickness change

No doubt there is some good info there. I remember the thread.
But keep in mind that stumps are much heavier than they look. full of dirt and all. Do not touch anything until you check with the guage. You can pick up guages at places like TSC fairly reasonable.
When I did mine, Instead of buying fittings and quick couplers, I just stole them from the loader and put them back when I was done. I actually didn't even buy a guage, I stole (borrowed) the one off the pressure washer. So if that is an option if you have one.
In your case, I would advise NOT to go much over spec. The working pressure of some of the hydraulic lines is probabally only 3000psi. All mine are except the ones going for the main lift. They are 4000psi to account a little for shock loads. But the L3400's spec is only like 2350 of so. You already starting with a spec of 2650, I wouldn't want to push much past 2700psi. just my :2cents: though
