Loader Joystick

Has anyone ever converted their cable style joystick to a all hydraulic setup? Aside from the cost, it seems like it would be farely easy.

I cant stand the slop in my non adjustable cable actuated joystick lever on my mahindra 4035 loader.

Never done it. But do you have room to route all the necessary hydraulic hoses to the location you want the valve. Should be looking at 7 hoses for a typical valve. So probably ~$200 in hoses, $300 in a hydraulic valve, Maybe another $100 for miscellaneous fittings, tax, shipping charges, etc.

If you have room, and the slop is worth $600 to correct, go for it.

By all hydraulic do you mean hydraulic pilot of your current valve? If yes then no you cannot convert existing valve without adding hydraulic pilot operators (if even an option) and getting a hydraulic joystick and the necessary valves to supply a constant pilot pressure source.

I would probably first investigate a way to make the cable version adjustable. Possibly just require new cables with adjustable ends.

There is plenty of room to attach a valve with hoses to the current pedistle.

The current loader valve is underneath the right side of the tractor.

Here was my thought:

1. I take the current loadervalve out.

2. Extend the hose's, that go to the current valve, to the new valve.

I would be adding 3 feet of hose, in order to relocate the valve.

Sounds like its not that easy?

Most of that stuff is fairly easy; I'd consider adding an extra spool for a grapple, I'm doing that to mine (waiting on more fittings!) but mine started with a direct acting valve, so my hoses already reach.

If you just relocating the existing valve then yes all would need to do is reconnect all the hoses and add the lever operators

It depends on who made the particular tractor. TYM? Perhaps Besko (good luck trying to find them besides a Mahindra dealer!). The smaller tractors may be Mitsubishi built. In any case, I'd be surprised if you can actually find a joystick setup to mount on your valve. It would be easier to simply get a valve assembly from Surplus Center (you can customize and get exactly what you want, maybe a joystick for the loader, a grapple spool, and a motor spool.)

The 4035 is built by Mahindra them selves. The tym built tractors are from a different series as well as the mitsu. tractors.

My tractor is rated at 11gpm. Does that mean I need a joystick that will do 11gpm or more?

Yes, if it is in the open circuit and you use power beyond. Note that you'd only need that for full flow at full throttle, but you don't want to choke the system in any case. I'm going with a valve that is technically too large, because it was a joystick assembly with grapple valve at a reduced price. You can "build a stack" on the Surplus Center site, getting, say, one regular D/A spool, one with float, another if you want to add a third function, add a joystick, etc.
