loader numbering changes

I was at the Kubota dealer yesterday checking out the B3200 w/LA504 loader. I commented to the sales rep about the number and the lift capacity being so much more than the LA402. His reply was there no difference because Kubota had changed how they designate loaders. Now it is calculated at the lift pins (like Deere loaders are) instead of lift capacity (2.2lbs. X old Kubota #) Sorry to see this change as it is a bit deceptive on actual capacities and not as easy to figure.

I was looking at the deers, 3038 and others and couldnt believe how small the cylinders were. I wondered how they got the numbers they published. Sad to see kubota do it too but you cant blame them.

I just went and looked at kubotas site and the numbers look the same as they always did but I cant remember the exact way they listed them? They list at the pin and 19.7 inches (500mm). The b3200 is rated to lift 760ish at the 500mm mark. Deere on the 38hp 3038 lists 540ish lbs at that same distance. So the numbers do reflect what I seen looking at the cylinders.

Yes the specs have not changed BUT which spec they use to arrive at the model number has. I have a B7800 and the exact same spec (500mm mark) is 760lbs. This is my point, the B7800 has an LA402 loader and the B3200 has a LA504 loader. I am used to multiplying 2.2 times the model number to get the lift capacity in lbs. as we all have for years. Evidently that has changed now. Seems more like a marketing ploy, slightly smaller size for the same price..................
