Kama 454 w/Kokyer 195 loader
I've been experienncing significant hydraulic power loss on my Koyker 195 loader (mounted on a Kama 454) over the last few months. Beyond making sure the fluids are toped off I haven't done any troubleshooting...figured I'd go to the pros first! Could it be as simple as the suction strainer? loader moves fluently just has about 1/2 the lift it used to ... thanks Scozz

PTO pump, or engine-driven pump? Is the TPH working normally?

DO you hear the safety valve in the loader control valve flowing any fluid? It could have a piece of crap stuck in it or be relieving at too low a pressure and not allowing full system pressure to build. This would limit it's ability to lift to full capacity. Can you get your hands on a hydraulic pressure gauge and a "T" and add the gauge near the inlet port on the inlet line to the valve?

This might help you determine what is at fault.

Ditto on the pres gauge...

I agree with the other posters. Additionally, I have a 195 too but I have a Kama 554. When my Koyker loader acts like that it's usually a dirty strainer and/or low hydraulic fluid. I clean and fill then I work all the hydraulics up and down to purge the system of any air in it. Run the engine at high rps when doing that. Then I re-check the fluid level after that and top off if necessary.

Does your Kama 454 have that external suction strainer with the magnet inside the filter screen? If so, take it apart and clean off any microscopic shavings and clean or replace the screen.

Go here for some photos of what I had to do. Specifically scroll down to reply #21 and #22.

Scozz and I have exchanged a PM about this. I asked if it lifted the front of the tractor easily and he said it did and that it seems to have plenty of down force but little up force. My thoughts (after eliminating all the excellent suggestions given thus far) are possibly a valve problem in the loader or a piston cup on one or both of the cylinders. It is possible for a cylinder to loose the ability to hold pressure in one direction if only one piston cup seal is damaged since they are normally only designed to hold pressure in one direction. The valve could be eliminated by swapping the lines, the valve will work backward, but if the loader then will not easily lift the front of the tractor, but has plenty of lifting power, the valve is the problem. a careful check of all quick connect fittings is also worthwhile.
