Any of you guys experience any problems with the scv lever that runs the loader having problems? Mine broke today, the nut that holds the piece that controls the servo direction that connects to the scv lever fell off, now the loader wont curl back. Called the dealer, said "well if you get it here, we can fix it under warranty" Needless to say, im a little miffed. They wont even come get this thing 8 miles away without me paying a transportation charge. Stupid nut falls off, loader is worthless, and now im stuck. Anyone have this happen?

green4710,

I'd be a bit miffed myself. It's the little stuff that will bring customers back or fleeing for the other color stuff. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Can you see what nut is missing? Is it fixable yourself, by just putting a new nut back on? Sounds like, if me, I would be getting more friendly with my dealer, or hope the dealer would get more friendly with me. Any reason he isn't running to your aid?
I have noticed more signs at my dealer (new owner) that say warranty work does not include pick up and/or delivery. I suspect that is an expense that Deere does not cover, and it would have to come out of the dealers shorts. Not pleasant, either way.

If I take the cover off, yes, I can see where its off. The problem is that to fix it, looks like a possible seat pull, then the entire plastic under the seat to get to the nut. This also would involve removing the rubber grip thing on the other scv lever, the three point lever rubber thing also. Either way, its going to be a pain to fix. Probably 20 cents for a 5mm nut, but 3 hours of labor......plus I'd have to haul the thing 16 miles round trip, and be out of a tractor for 5 days......... /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Do you use the tractor for anything besides FEL work? If you do, make your appointment for the work the day the dealer can do it instead of letting it just wait in line for four day for a one day job.

Another possibility might be to get your FEL off if you can so you can use your machine while you're awaiting your appointment at the shop.

Good luck wth this one and with your dealer. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I was in one of my local Deere dealers last week sitting on a Gator in the showroom waiting for parts and noticed a permanent label on the left front fender, about 2" x 2", viewable from the driver's seat that said sometning to the effect of transportation charges to and from the dealer for any repairs are the owner's responsibility.
Sounds like this is a new policy, and it even warrants a sticker on the machine.

From your description, it sounds like you know pretty much what to do and what needs to be done. I'd encourage you to go for it.

It's very similar to what I had to do to check (and replace) the in-line screen on the 3pt hyd line which is under the seat. The same things had to be removed, which at first was a bit intimidating. But when finished, not really a big deal and the accomplishment felt good. Those things are made so the mechanics can do them, and therefore are fairly easy for anyone to do them. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

These are little things you probably should get used to doing, as all tractors require some maintenance and odds n ends repair. I don't think losing the nut like yours is very common, but similar things will happen over time.

Go for it. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

well if you get it here, we can fix it under warranty

I had my tractor repaired last fall under warranty and they provided transportation. I was told this is at the dealers expense.

Oh, im used to fixing stuff, but it seems to me to pay over 20k for a tractor, and then have to haul the darn thing to the dealer to fix it, thats not right. I mean they were all willing to bring it down when I bought it. The nut to fix would take 10 seconds when you get to it, but it looks like an hour to pull all the stuff off to get to it, and then if you accidentally broke something doing it, is that covered under warranty? Come on JD, step up to the plate.....

I hear you on the hauling. Seems like it's up to the dealer. My guy hauls free for the first year. For something like your SCV it sounds like they could do the repair in the field at your place - and should, under warranty. All their out compared to in-shop work is the travel time of the tech.
