Wow... never new what I was missing by not having a front end loader.... and to think I've had tractors for years and not had one / thought I didn't need one!!
After work yesterday, I dismantled a 10x20 and a 10x10 tarp covered tube framp that a tractor and horse trailer partially live under, and then traded out some of the tubes for longer ones, and then swapped the surplus poles over to the smaller canopy, leaving me with a 10x30 and a 10x18.. now I've got a couple tractors under complete cover, and the horse trailer covered well, instead of a nose hanging out.
The 10x20 that became a 10x30 was a tall sucker.. as it accomodates my NH 7610s .. the top side rail is at 92", and The top middle rail at maybee 12 feet or so to clear the exhaust stack. originally my wife helped me put it up.. not that it was heavy.. just hard to manage. had to rebuild it by myself yesterday though. Found my ford 660 with 1 arm loader was absolutely invaluable. For one thing.. I didn't have to use my truck or another tractor with a trailer hitch ball to move the trailer.. just picked up the tounge with the fel, and moved it. FEL was also nice for holding up rafter sections while I was up on the ladder tieing them in with sheet metal screws. ( glad i ran power out to the back of the pasture! ).
Took about 4 hours to untarp, dismantle, rebuild, retarp, and put up my tools and get the tractors and trailer moved back. I still have a few cleanup duties and a couple odd things left to do.. but the work is 98% done.
Normally, I use my 8n as my trailer tender as i have a 3pt trailer ball/tounge setup for it. So nice to back up.. raise the 3pt lift and go.. but I had the fertalizer spreader hooked up to it.. and all that was blocking the NAA in the barn as well. The 660 has a mondo cement counterweight on its 3pt.
Ironically.. now that I have the 660.. my NAA gets almost no use... :-( The 8n does the light work.. and the 660 the 'utility' stuff.. and the 7610 the heavy stuff.
oh well.. great seat time!
