JD 3520
Just bought a JD3520 (3 total hours on the machine). I was wondering what the LoadMatch function really does and when it would be used. The operator manual does not give much info.

Load Match runs the tractor at optimum RPM. Dig into an embankment with it on and the tractor will not stall. Do it without the load match and you will easily see the value of it.
I leave mine on all the time.

Another way to see it in action is to go fast up a steep incline in 'C' range both with it 'on' and 'off'.

3520's and 3720's may not see it act as dramaticcly as non turbo machines. Its not my fault you have so much power... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have a 3520 and I leave load match on all the time and I love it. If you turn it off and are trying to load dirt or gravel it will not take you long to find out how nice it is. I only worry should I leave it on all the time the dealer just said leave it on so I have but has anyone found that it shouldnt be left on?

I cannot tell an enormous difference with the LoadMatch on v. off on my tractor, but it does help when the machine is heavily loaded. My dealer is very astute at JD products and says no problems with leaving the LoadMatch on all the time. That said, I do not do it. I like the psychological advantage of knowing I have a "power" button when I need it. As far as how it works---ball bearings.

My dealer also said I can just leave it on. The on and off button was placed on there for a reason. I will probably turn it on during heavy work only.

Thanks again.

I just leave mine on on my 3320. My dealer also said just to leave it on. The salesguy said JD put on the switch so they could demo the loadmatch, but there wasn't any real reason to turn it off. Now that's what the dealer told me, so take it for what you will.

The loadMatch switch turns on and off a feature in the computer. ON, the computer monitors the engine speed; should it drop off to a unsafe/inefficient level, it adjusts the transmission rate to a level that unloads the engine.

the only reason that I can see to ever turn it off is for diagnostics. It is never a good idea to stall the engine, leaving LoadMatch off is like leaving 4wd off to save the front tires, only to wear out the rears...
