A touching Mother's Day story. We all need to learn to never stop talking with a family member. We never know when we will see them for the last time. At least the close call served as a wake up call to the mother/daughter.

Looks like she was mowing the vineyard with that flail mower on the 3pt hitch.
Wine country around Healdsburg is really beautiful with the grape trellises covering the hillsides. But you really have to be careful when mowing there, especially with a large tractor like the one that flipped here. Fortunately the orchards around my area are pretty flat so this type of accident is very rare.

Looks like an older IHC. They were built pretty low to the ground and heavy. Wonder what the actual circumstances were as they said it tipped over backwards. Once the rear attachment, tiller or mower, hit the ground it should have made it less of an advantage to continue over.

I agree it does not add up. Perhaps it was a reporter who had never seen a tractor. Most accidents reported that I knew the details about was NOTHING like the write up in the paper.

Some mention that the husband said he heard her yell as she slid backwards.
Tires didn't look like they were muddy. Appeared to be no ROPS or FEL on the tractor.
She is a lucky women (and he a lucky husband).

There was a follow-up article in the newspaper that said she was trying to change gears while climbing the hill, missed the gear, tractor started rolling backwards, went sideways, and flipped.

Thanks for those missing factor. I can buy the loss of control causing this. This was always a concern of mine driving a tractor with brakes that would not hold on a hill.
