Locking Gas Cap?

Who makes locking gas caps for tractors. I have a TN65, TC 40A and several John Deere,s that need them. We cant even leave the tractor in the field and go to lunch without someone doing something to the tractor.

I wouldn't know...

However on my tractor, the diesel fuel cap simply attaches to a fully exposed big rubber hose that goes down to the tank. I my case, a locking fuel cap would prove pointless.

The fuel tank is also fully exposed.

What are people doing to your tractor?

You may want to try pretending you are leaving. Leave the tractor area and then, you get out of the truck,while your driver goes on to lunch. When the thieves come in, bingo, you get the drop on them. Ken Sweet

My neighbor had someone dump a lot of sugar into his gas tank on his Deutz diesel tractor...so I also would like to know if anyone knows where locking gas caps for tractors can be purchased...Just think if someone poured anything down into your tank...dirt, sugar...anything and there are some mean folks out there and kids that will do that kind of thing. Sometimes I have to leave my tractor over night on my farm where I can't see it and that always worries me.

Several years ago, I sold a new tractor to a fellow and the neighbor kids came over one night and put red clay dirt in his fuel tank. Not knowing, he ran it until it quit. We like to have never got all that stuff out of the fuel system. It even went thru the filters and into the injection pump. Ken Sweet

When I first got my tractor (Kubota L4330) I did extensive web searches and contacted Kubota and several fuel cap manufacturers in a unsuccessful attempt to find a locking cap. I was really surprised - assumed that MOST commercial operators that have to leave their heavy equip out overnight on jobsites where there is no control of what might go on would DEMAND locking caps. But none to be found. Go figure. Might be a good opportunity for someone?
