Hello folks, I built this a year ago to use when the summer was here so I could continue building year round on the road.
The hand winch I used is a hand crank with a hand brake.. an oldie and is fantastic I strongly recommend a hand brake operated winch for lowering the load. So nice. Mine is also a two speed though I leave it in high. Here you go-

That one attachment was to go in the drawbar hitch and rest the front of the log there but I never used it. The theory is sound though and can support the log too but I just used a choker type hook and chain setup on that T shaped three point attachment above..
The spindle Set was on eBay $56 for the set as I recall and the tires and wheels were sourced locally and are the big 25” balloon three wheeler tires and have been great.

Here it is in action. A lot of the road I built with a snowmobile in the winter so hydraulics were a welcome addition-

Nice looking build on the arch. It had been lots of years ago (1930-40’s I believe) but the area I was raised in is reclaimed swamp for the 1920’s and log roads were a common item according to my grandfather (only knew 1) and older uncles, in poorly drained areas.

Hello 'Patton, yeah they used to be very plentiful and are constantly being dug up during modern excavations. Usually still fully intact! Because they work I suppose, lol. Up here in Alaska the muskeg (swamp speak up here) is acidic and anaerobic (low in oxygen content) and these are two characteristics that create a preservative effect. All natural too. You couldn't even run across this strip of land with snow shoes on in the summer but now I can drive any piece of equipment I own over it with no worries at all.

Do you add planks at tire track width to smooth the ride, or leave it as is? I noticed rope on some. Is that used to secure the logs until they settle in place?

Very nice work both in the shop and in the woods. Really good looking arch and corduroy road.

Good questions '850, I tied the logs to each other and to the geogrid beneath them to help control any shifting as water movement is perpendicular (at a right angle) to the roadway itself.
The build I am doing is in phases; first thing is to create a hard road, then is to go back and level it, then cover with road fabric then cover it all with gravel. Oh yeah, there will be five bridges too:)
