I thought I would update you all. Finally finished up my splitter and have split a couple of cord of 30" mixed hardwood for my brother with it. So far it has exceeded my expectations.
On with the pics and a short vid.

Good looking log splitter.

I like the way you mounted that tongue jack. It gives me ideas for one of my trailers that doesn't have a jack.

Get a valve that you don't have to hold on to for reverse. higher edges on the log catch, log lift should come even on edge of beam. You might not want to use that engine cover due to heat.

Thanks guys. It was a lot of fun and very satisfying to have it work like it does.
The valve is just one I had, on a budget you know, and the engine cover is only for when the splitter get's left outside, it comes off when in operation.
My thought on not having the lift even with the beam is so none inadvertently come rolling off on me! As far as the log catch, it works as is just fine, don't forget the wood split so far has been off a log load pile and are cut 30" long for my brothers outside boiler. I have a couple of slight mods I want to do if I ever get it back home...LOL my brother loves it compared to his MTD slow poke splitter.

Funny, I just realized that the pics I posted aren't of it completed. I'll get some new ones by the weekend.
