Bought a new Wallenstein logging winch for my Kubota MX5100 2014 model. Installed today. When I raised it all the way I didn't realize the top link arm hit the ROP cross arm and bent the link arm. Lucky I had another. I adjusted all the link positions but no good. I could always operate it and remember just not to raise it all the way. But when I get busy I am bound to forget.that won't go well. What am I doing wrong?

What model of Wallenstein did you buy?

I'm not familiar with lift control handle on your Kabota but if it's anything like my vintage Fords,NH and MF,it's easy to install a lever stop to limit up or down at any position. If that's not possible, might be time to alter the ROPS. I am aware they say messing with safety features is a no no but I wouldn't hesitate for one minute if it helped function.

IMG_0010.JPG. I tried to attach a picture , hope it works. I am not too swift at computers.
It shows where the top link arm is about to hit the ROP cross frame. I rigged up a stop with a bolt to limit the up travel of the 3 point hitch control slide. It works.

IMG_0009.JPG well that was the wrong picture. That was the bent unit. This is the correct one

I don't have that crosspiece, but the first time that I put my winch on I dropped my left rear tire into a hole which raised the winch up and smashed my taillights. I had only put about 10 hours on the tractor. :(
My lift arms are shorter than most, so I have to be careful when using most any implement; I can't even use my potato hiller until I remake it so that it doesn't rub on the rear tires.
My draft control has an adjustable stop so that I don't raise it more than I want to.

That sounds like bad luck. The winch is higher than any attachment I ever used. When raised it rocks inward toward my back. The protective mesh “cage” squeezes in between ROP.just barely. But I think I have the adjustments worked out. Now to operate it and get used to it.

in answer to Sawyer Robs question I bought an FX 85

I had to take my mesh guard off, otherwise I would have been unable to lift the winch. It could be that the first owner had plans for or had a quick attach, hence the short arms.
