Farmtrac 360 DTC TLB
Anyone using one on a Farmtrac compact and care to comment? I looked at a couple of used ones this week and wonder if it would put too much strain on a compacts three point hitch.

One looked like one this: AgDealer.com - 1970 Farmi 4500 Winch is this a different model number in the states?

The other was a Fransgard v4000 but it was a good bit larger.

i run a frans guard v3504 winch on a kubota b7800. that is on a cat 1 3ph and the winch can pull over 7000 pounds. the tractor is 30hp and weighs around 2000 pounds with fel. done over 120 face cord of logs winched out of the woods and on really steep hills too. have to becareful! bad things could happen in a hurry, but if you know what to watch for is ok. i had the same concern as you did about strain on hitch, but no problems so far. i am really REALLY surprised what that winch will do on that small of a tractor. not familar with your tractor.

I have a farmi and it was on the back of my 2810HST Mahindra. It worked great but DO STRAIGHT PULLS WITH IT! I found the tractor wasn't quite heavy enough to carry angle pulls and broke the rear end. It was all weldable but be careful. . . John

That's encouraging, the v4000 has 8800 pull and my tractor is over 3500 with FEL and loaded tires. Doesn't seem that there is much differences in the winches, is one a replacement model for the other?

Your Farmi has legs like the one I saw do you know what your model number is or if parts are a problem? Other say that the blade makes them more stable than the legs, do you think that was part of your trouble?
I worry about the stress on the top link, I damaged it already using the backhoe and it seems most of the pull would be on the toplink.

the fransgard v3504 was an update for newer sub compact tractors that the pto's are higher off the ground on. this to not bind the shaft when in use. it is the model under the v4000 you previously mentioned. the v3504 is set up with 5/16 cable/chains and the v4000 is set up with 3/8 cable and chains. as for strain on the top link, yes, but fransgard winches have a lower pulley about where the height of the lower 3ph links are that you can easily put around the cable and this lowers where the pulling force would be on the tractor/winch. i use the lower pulley anytime i can but if i am pulling over a hump and do not want to run the cable in the dirt or i need to have some lift on the log being pulled, i just keep it at the top pulley. the blade on the winch actually takes more of the pulling force at either pulley then you might think. as stated before, NO SIDE WINCHING. that is where you will break the 3ph or even tip the tractor. no problems yet and i have winched oak, hard maple and up VERY steep banks. pole wood size logs. works great for my firewood business.

Thank for clearing that up.

my bad on previous 2 posts. i labled the winch as being model # fransgard v3504. the correct model # is fransgard v3507. sorry about that. i think the "7" means the year it came out, 2007. rest of information i previously posted is very accurate.
