Does anyone have experience with the gearbox under the belly. It has an output shaft that turns the drive shaft for the 4WD front end. Something in the gearbox broke that keeps the output shaft/main shaft (the only shaft) from moving forward. The shaft moved so far forward that all the hydraulic fluid ran out when the seal opened up. I tore the thing apart and found a piece of aluminum wire in several pieces that was twitched around a groove in the shaft. Also there was a thin, circular shield of some sort.
I just bought this thing. The owner (of course) said "it just has a bad seal". I don't know if he or someone else tried to rig a temporary fix or that is the way UTB put it together.
The service manual is on its way. I hope it covers this reduction gearbox. The 209J front bearing is $115 and I can't even find a source for the seal. Neither will help if I can't keep the shaft from crawling out.
