Long 470 DTC
Anyone know where to fill and drain the hydraulic system on a Long 470 DTC tractor? Also what type of fluid should I put in it?

Wish I could tell ya. It's a shame a post with a question has to ride so long without someone coming along with an answer. As for my 535 it is adjacent to the dipstick right next to the gear shifts.

Im just wondering if I am the only one who actually bought this thing. It really has been a pretty decent unit. Does it store the fluid in the rear axle housing?

Only going by my 555 but the dipstick by your feet would be the transmission. The Oil fill for the Hydraulics are behind the seat, mine is on the right side (sitting on it) There may be a return line going into the fitting if you have rear remotes. Yes the rear fluid and hydraulic fluid are the same (mine is)

Also check here, it is a parts list. Something is wrong with my laptop and I cannot view PDF files. There is probably an answer in the 377 page parts manual

Well figured i would update this thread as i am still not sure as to where to fill the hydraulic fluid. I believe its behind the seat on the rear axle housing. Looks to me that the housing actually uses hydraulic fluid for lubrication. I am not sure of this though. there is a "Oil pipe" (page 233 in parts manual/277 pdf page) that does match but i beieve it to be a vent and not a fill location. It does indicate at the bottom of page that this is the "Hydraulic housing" but still not willing to to bet its the actual tank.
Below this housing is a fill stick in the axle housing (directly below the 4 remote Hyd quick-connects). Nothing stamped on the fill stick but level indicators and it does smell like hyd fluid. I may have too drain the rear and check fluid type. Looks like suction comes from the rear below the pto for the hyd filter too which also indictes it may use hydraulic in the rear for lubrication.
If anyone has a service or owners manual and can look this up it would be greatly appreciated! and thanks ahead of time!

Looking deeper into the above mentioned parts manual page 177 (PDF page 214) lists the housing as "final drive housing" and a plug as part #12. Would this be the fill location for hydraulic?

I guess its time to finalize the thread and give the answer. What i did is put the fluid in the vent located directly behind the seat on the rear of the tractor. I removed the vent plug which has the gooseneck tubing and filled it there. Works like a charm now.
Thanks for all the help guys.
