We are looking for a 40hp (give or take) 4WD compact utility tractor with a bucket on the front and a slasher on the back. It will be used as a general farm tractor on our 40acre property (20 bush acres, 20 acres of paddocks).

After gathering some good information from this forum (thanks for the resources) we are now focussing our efforts on 2nd hand versions of the following:

Kubota L4400

JD 4105

Two questions:

1) Does anyone have any other suggestions in addition to the above?

2) Can anyone recommend a dealership / individual we can work with to identify the right machine? We will ship the tractor to Australia but can manage most of that ourselves.

Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,
oby

I would look at a Kioti DK 45. I think that is it. I currently have a 28HP tractor and for the price of used you can get a new Kioti. Great financing and good deal make getting new a option at this time.

With all of the added cost for shipping, Wouldn't it be cheaper to make the purchase in Australia?

If I was looking, I would have to see what resources there is locally that can offer repair, service and parts to help narrow down the search.

While I dont have any experince with other brands, I am very happy with my Kubota L3750 and couldnt ask for a better more reliable machine. (Well except for two of them :D)

Good luck on your search!

Thanks for all your thoughts. Unfortunately Kioti is not available here in Australia so parts and service could be an issue. Also, unfortunately, the price of tractors here is significantly more that looking in the US is a much better option. It seems here that a 10 year tractor with 2000+ hours is the same cost (shipped to Australia) as a 4 year old tractor with -500 hours.

We did some further searching today and went to some sales yards and of course, have now changed our minds. Our preference is:

1. Kubota MX5100
2. Kubota M series
3. John Deere 4320 or 4520
4. New Holland Boomer 3045

Cheers,

I've seen several posts on here from guys/gals in Australia that do have Kiotis. But, I don't think they are called Kioti in Australia, but rather by the name of their parent company: Daedong. A Daedong in Australia is the same as a Kioti in the U.S.A. There may be some very minor differences, but basically they are one and the same. I would think you'd fair better to buy in Australia.

Have you look at Jinma for Foton? I believe they have some presences in Oz.

The are at least a half dozen TBN members from Australia. I bet you could seach on 'Australia' 'oz' 'down under' and find their screen names. You could then send them a private message. They would certainly have local knowledge that would be of help. Imorting machinery is not something to do without appreciating the many and often arcaine regulations that govern such matters. As a start you might PM Your countryman IronHorse who is quite active on TBN. Good luck.

Also as noted Kioti = Daedong. I have a 40hp Kioti that I am very happy with.

I would be glad to talk with you on the Kubota tractors if you would like. Also, We are a Massey Ferguson dealer as well, if that interest you. I shipped a Kubota tractor last year to Haiti. Feel free to email us or give us a call.

You do know that exporting is a violation of your Kubota dealer agreement right? Apparently not, if your posting this in a public forum .
