Long or New Holland?

I've started looking around for a used tractor. I was raised on a couple of 8N's and a '68 3000, which was a workhorse and lasted forever, so I'm biased Blue. I stopped in the local Long dealer to look at a used 3600 and he told me Long was now building all of Ford/New Holland smaller line of tractors. He even showed me the New Holland stamp on the side of the engine to prove it. Is this true? There are several Longs around here, the quality doesn't seem to be there, but the price is less. Can someone give the latest history on all this?

Also, my ucle has a Ford 3610 with a used bushog and single row disk he is asking me $5000 for, is this a decent price? Bad problem it doesn't has power steering-the reason he is selling. How much does these units cost if I install. I think the tractor has about 2800 hrs but looks really straight and clean. It has new (rebuilt) injectors and a new battery.

Long's current Farmtrac's are "purchased" from the same factory as Ford/New Holland "ex-supplier" of the Ford/NH 3610/3910... (hence some of the same NH/Iveco parts suppliers)

On the utility size, I don't remember exactly but Romania/Turkey/Yugoslavia area... Long's Compact series mainly use Mitsubishi diesel's and mostly all Korean made...

On your Uncle's Ford 3610, the current going/avg. price is $5,900 (Long Farmtrac 60 with the 192 3-cyl)... Without a loader/and not doing close/slow maneuvering type work... you won't even notice the lack of power steering... try it out... mainly bush hogging @ 4-5 mph and it's pretty smooth driving... That Ford is a nice little workhorse...

Thanks JMIII, so NH is still building tractors in this size? Just not getting them from the same manufacturer any more? I think I would be to worried about future parts to buy the Farmtrac. I was told a Ford power steering unit is $1000 for the 3610.
